WebDir v4 UI Customisation

WebDir 4.0 provides a very simple to use administrative interface that allows system administrators to quickly and easily customize the look and feel of the application.  These customizations will allow WebDir to more seamlessly integrate into your corporate intranet or extranet.

UI changes are made through System Manager’s design node.  Each virtual server has its own design settings allowing for multiple interfaces to the same directory, each with their own look and feel.

This document is intended to provide additional detail on each customization section, including sample images.  The sample images include references to the specific font or color setting to change that specific area.

There are three sections to the Look and Feel tab within System Manager Design:

·         Edit Font

·         Edit Colour

·         Edit Images

Edit Font
WebDir allows you to customize the fonts used in the web interface.  Every font used within WebDir can be changed by selecting a font setting and clicking edit.  Each font has the following settings:

·         Name:  The name is the internal identifier used by WebDir to identify the font.  It cannot be changed.

·         Family:  Specify the font family that should be used.  Separate multiple family names with commas.  Fonts are used in the order specified.  If the first font is not available on the user's machine the next font will be used.  If none of the specified fonts are available the browser will use the default font specified on the user's machine.

·         Color:  Specify the color that should be used to render the font.  The color can be specified by name or by hex RGB value.  Not all browsers support named colors.  It is best to use the RGB number.

Samples:

o        Color by name: red

o        Color by RGB: #FF0000

Note: If a color is not specified by default than a color is not necessary for the font and WebDir will ignore any font color specified.

·         Size:  Specify the size of the font.  Sizes can be specified in several different units including percentages, points, and pixels.  It is recommended you specify font sizes in pixels for browser compatibility.

Samples:

o        Size by percent: 10%

o        Size by points: 10pt

o        Size by pixels: 10px

Note: If a size is not specified by default than a size is not necessary for the font and WebDir will ignore any font size specified.
